Dr. Michael Ging is a distinguished organist, consultant, and arts entrepreneur with over 20 years of experience in organ performance, education, and project development. He holds a Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Houston, a Master of Music from Rice University, and a Bachelor of Music from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music. His principal teachers include Robert Bates, Ken Cowan, Jack Mitchener, and Matthew Dirst.
As a concert organist, Dr. Ging has performed at renowned venues such as Magdeburg Cathedral's Orgelkunst Series, L'Église de la Madeleine in Paris, Grace Cathedral in San Francisco, and the Basilica of the National Shrine of Mary, Queen of the Universe in Orlando.
In addition to his performance career, Dr. Ging is the co-founder and managing partner of Seven Eight Artists, a boutique artist management agency representing leading concert organists from North America, Europe, and Asia.
As an organ consultant, Dr. Ging collaborates with churches and institutions at every stage of the organ-building process -- from conceptual design and specification through construction, installation, voicing, and commissioning. His work includes new pipe, hybrid, and digital instruments as well as major rebuilds and restorations. Recent projects include new instruments for St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Houston, TX, and St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church in Charleston, SC.
Dr. Ging has served in several church music leadership roles, including as Principal Organist at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Houston, TX, and Director of Music and Organist-in-Residence at New Hope Lutheran Church in Missouri City, TX. He also taught organ at Rollins College in Winter Park, FL.
Dr. Ging resides in Mérida, Yucatán, with his wife and their golden retriever.
